How the Verona Card works
The Verona Card is an official tourist card from the city of Verona, available for 24 or 48 hours. It provides free entry to the most important attractions as well as free use of city buses during the validity period. The card is only activated upon first use, allowing you to use it flexibly at your desired time.
Purchase Verona Card
You can buy the Verona Card online or directly on-site in Verona. On-site, it's available at the tourist information, in museums, churches, authorized tobacco shops, and at Verona Porta Nuova train station. Vouchers purchased online must be exchanged for a physical card at the IAT Info Point (Via Leoncino 61, Palazzo Barbieri).
Reserve attractions
For Casa di Giulietta, a free time slot reservation is mandatory. When making the reservation, select the 'VR Card' option. Reservations should be made well in advance, especially during peak season.
Activate & use card
The card is activated upon first use (e.g., entry to an attraction or ride on the city bus). From this moment, the 24 or 48-hour validity period begins. Municipal museums and monuments (including Arena and Casa di Giulietta) are closed on Mondays.
Enjoy free entry
With the Verona Card, you have free access to more than 15 attractions, including Arena di Verona (fast entry), Castelvecchio Museum, and Basilica San Zeno. Additionally, you can use ATV city buses unlimited and free of charge. The card is not valid for the Aerobus (airport shuttle) and not for intercity connections.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Verona Card
With the Verona Card, you get free admission to Verona's main attractions such as the Arena di Verona, Casa di Giulietta, Castelvecchio as well as various museums and churches.
Additionally, you can use the public city bus network (ATV) for free and receive discounted admission to other attractions as well as discounts on tourist offers. A special advantage: Fast-track access to Arena di Verona without waiting in line.
The Verona Card is automatically activated upon first use - either when entering an attraction for the first time or taking your first bus ride. From that moment, it runs for 24 or 48 hours, depending on the variant you chose.
You simply need to show the card at the entrance control or validate it on the card reader in the bus. The time only starts running from the first use, not from the purchase date.
Each attraction included in the Verona Card can only be visited once. Multiple entries to the same attraction are not possible.
However, you can use public transport unlimited times during the entire validity period.
With the Verona Card, you can use all municipal bus lines (ATV city buses) in Verona for free and unlimited during the validity period.
Not included are the Aerobus airport shuttle and intercity buses. The card is exclusively valid for municipal public transport within Verona.
No, the Verona Card functions directly as a bus ticket. You don't need to buy an additional ticket when boarding, just validate the card at the bus card reader.
Important: This only applies to municipal lines within the city area. The pass is not valid for airport transport or regional bus lines.
Yes, but only at Arena di Verona do you get priority access without waiting in line. Since this is the most visited attraction, you often save a lot of time here.
For all other attractions, there are no special fast-track entrances. Important note: For Casa di Giulietta, even as a Verona Card holder, you need an online reservation of a time slot in advance.
The Verona Card has a flat rate without age discounts. There are no discounts for children, teenagers, seniors, or families.
However, children often receive free or discounted admission to many museums anyway (often under 8 or 14 years). For very young children, the card is therefore usually not worthwhile, while it can be quite useful for teenagers and adults.
After purchasing online, you receive a digital voucher that you must exchange for the physical card on-site. The main collection point is the Tourist Information IAT at Via Leoncino 61 at Piazza Bra (next to the Arena).
Opening hours: weekdays approximately 09:00–17:00, Sundays slightly shorter. No postal delivery is available. Alternatively, you can buy the card directly on-site - at the tourist office, museum ticket offices, or authorized hotels.
Generally, no returns or refunds are provided, even if attractions are unexpectedly closed or opening hours change.
Exception: Online platforms like Tiqets or GetYourGuide often offer a cancellation option - usually until the day before the planned first use with full refund. Check the cancellation terms of the respective provider before purchasing.
In case of loss of the Verona Card, there is no entitlement to replacement or refund. Since the card is not registered personally, a lost pass will not be replaced.
You would have to buy a new card. Therefore, treat the Verona Card like cash and keep it safe.
The Verona Card is valid for one person each and is not transferable. Each traveler needs their own card.
Passing it on to other people during the validity period is not possible. The card should be signed by the holder, which emphasizes personal use.
