How the Verona Card works
The Verona Card is an official tourist card of the city of Verona, available for 24 or 48 hours. It gives you free entry to the most important attractions as well as unlimited free use of the city buses during the validity period. The card is only activated upon first use, allowing you to use it flexibly at your preferred time.
Buy the Verona Card
You can buy the Verona Card online or directly on-site in Verona. On-site, it is available at the tourist information office, museums, churches, authorized tobacco shops, and at Verona Porta Nuova train station, among other locations. Vouchers purchased online must be exchanged for a physical card at the IAT Info Point (Via Leoncino 61, Palazzo Barbieri).
Reserve attractions
For the Casa di Giulietta, a free time slot reservation is mandatory. When booking, select the 'VR Card' option. Reservations should be made well in advance, especially during peak season.
Activate & use your card
The card is activated upon first use (e.g. entry to an attraction or a city bus ride). From that moment, the 24 or 48-hour validity period begins. Municipal museums and monuments (including the Arena and Casa di Giulietta) are closed on Mondays.
Enjoy free admission
With the Verona Card, you have free access to more than 15 attractions, including the Arena di Verona (fast-track entry), the Castelvecchio Museum, and the Basilica of San Zeno. In addition, you can use the ATV city buses unlimited free of charge. The card is not valid for the Aerobus (airport shuttle) or intercity connections.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Verona Card
With the Verona Card you get free admission to Verona's most important attractions such as the Arena di Verona, Casa di Giulietta, Castelvecchio, as well as various museums and churches.
In addition, you can use the public city bus network (ATV) free of charge and receive discounted admission to further attractions as well as discounts on tourist offers. A special benefit: fast-track access to the Arena di Verona without queuing.
The Verona Card is automatically activated upon first use – either at the first entry to an attraction or on the first bus ride. From that moment it is valid for 24 or 48 hours, depending on the option chosen.
Simply present the card at the entrance or validate it on the card reader on the bus. The time only starts from the first use, not from the date of purchase.
Each attraction included in the Verona Card can only be visited once. Multiple entries to the same attraction are not possible.
Public transport, on the other hand, can be used an unlimited number of times throughout the entire validity period.
With the Verona Card you can use all municipal bus lines (ATV city buses) in Verona free of charge and without limit during the validity period.
Not included are the Aerobus airport shuttle and intercity buses. The card is valid exclusively for local public transport within Verona.
No, the Verona Card acts directly as a bus ticket. You do not need to buy an additional ticket when boarding – simply validate the card on the card reader on the bus.
Important: this only applies to municipal lines within the city. The pass is not valid for airport transfers or regional bus routes.
Yes, but only at the Arena di Verona do you receive priority access without queuing. As this is the most visited attraction, you can often save a lot of time here.
There are no special fast-track entrances for any other attractions. Important note: For the Casa di Giulietta, even as a Verona Card holder you will need to make an online time-slot reservation in advance.
The Verona Card has a single price with no age discounts. There are no reductions for children, young people, senior citizens, or families.
However, children already receive free or discounted admission at many museums anyway (often under 8 or 14 years of age). For very young children the card is therefore usually not worthwhile, whereas for teenagers and adults it can certainly be a good deal.
After purchasing online you will receive a digital voucher that you must exchange for the physical card on site. The main collection point is the IAT Tourist Information office at Via Leoncino 61 at Piazza Bra (next to the Arena).
Opening hours: weekdays approximately 09:00–17:00, slightly shorter on Sundays. Cards are not sent by post. Alternatively, you can also buy the card directly on site – at the tourist information office, museum ticket desks, or authorised hotels.
In principle, no returns or refunds are provided, even if attractions are unexpectedly closed or opening hours change.
Exception: Online platforms such as Tiqets or GetYourGuide often offer a cancellation option – usually up to the day before the planned first use with a full refund. Check the cancellation terms of the respective provider before purchasing.
In the event of loss of the Verona Card, there is no entitlement to a replacement or refund. As the card is not registered in a personalised manner, a lost pass will not be replaced.
You would need to purchase a new card. Therefore treat the Verona Card like cash and keep it in a safe place.
The Verona Card is valid for one person only and is non-transferable. Each traveller requires their own card.
Passing the card on to other people during the validity period is not permitted. The card should be signed by the holder, which emphasises its personal use.
