Public transportation

Public transport with the Verona Card

With the Verona Card, you can use all city buses in Verona free of charge for 24 or 48 hours. Simply show the card when boarding and travel through the city - from the station to the Arena, to the sights and back.

The Verona Card as a ticket for local transport

The card is activated the first time it is used and is then valid for 24 or 48 hours. During this period you can use all city buses of the ATV transport company without limit. However, the Verona Card is only valid in the city - regional buses and the airport shuttle bus are not included. The funicular (Castel San Pietro) is also excluded.

Practical use

Hold your Verona Card up to the ticket scanner on the bus when boarding until a signal confirms validation. This validates the card and its validity begins. You must hold the card up to the reader again each time you change buses. Ticket inspection: Have the card ready - showing it at an inspection is sufficient as a ticket. A fine may be imposed if the card is not validated. In addition, the Verona Card is not transferable - each person needs their own.

Timetable and public transport app

Verona's city buses run from around 5:00 am to midnight. Late in the evening and on Sundays and public holidays there is a reduced frequency - many lines run less frequently or under a different number (90 lines as evening/Sunday services). There are no night buses over midnight, so plan your return journey before midnight. For route planning and up-to-date information, use the official ATV app "Ticket Bus Verona " (for Android and iOS). The app displays timetables (incl. real-time data) and stops and enables the purchase of digital tickets.

Important lines for tourists

  • Airport: The shuttle bus Airlink (line 199) connects Verona Airport with Porta Nuova (central station). The Verona Card is not valid here - a separate ticket is required.
  • Train station → center: From Porta Nuova train station you can reach the Arena (Piazza Brà) in a few minutes. There are bus lines 11-13, among others. In the evening and on Sundays and public holidays, there are 90, 92, 96-98 buses.
  • Sightseeing: You can easily reach more distant destinations by bus. To Castelvecchio, for example, lines 21-24 go as far as the castle. You can also get to the Roman Theatre and Castel San Pietro by bus (line 73 to the vicinity, then continue on foot).
  • Transfer hubs: The most important bus hub is Porta Nuova (central station). In the center, Piazza Brà (Arena) serves as a central transfer point where many lines meet.
